must be tied in bundles or packed in containers no larger than 3 feet by 4

still be closed and latched AND the weight does not exceed 200 pounds.
Place all additional garbage next to the Herbie for pick-up.

DO NOT put engine blocks or other excessively heavy items in
the Herbie. DO place these items next to the Herbie for pick-up.

picked up during the second collection of that week.
Stolen or Damaged Herbie
– Residents may be required to pay to replace any Herbie that is stolen or
vandalized because it was not reasonably secured.
However, the Solid Waste department will usually repair or replace
carts that are damaged as a result of normal wear and tear.

Recycling
Apartments
are NOT always automatically equipped with a recycling
container (a Rosie), but all residents who receive garbage pick-up
are also eligible for recycling pick-up.
Many
materials are recyclable: newspapers, junk mail, computer paper,
writing paper, magazines and phone books, steel and aluminum cans,
glass, and plastic. You do not have to separate most of your
recyclables, but you do have to separate glass into the top, removable
container.
If
you DO NOT already have a Rosie, or you do not know your
collection day, call the Division of Solid Waste.
They can answer any questions, give you specific instructions, and deliver a Rosie for free.

the Division of Solid Waste. This is a free pick-up but there is a $10
processing charge for all freon-containing units. Eligible appliances are:
refrigerators, freezers, water heaters, washers, dryers, stoves,
dehumidifiers, air conditioners and dishwashers.

Christmas
Tree Recycling
The Urban County Government
collects and recycles Christmas trees.
Specific dates vary from year to year and are announced in the
newspaper and on Government Television, Channel 3, during the holidays.
Trees must be stripped of
stands, lights, tinsel, and ornaments and left on the curb the evening
before the scheduled pickup days. The trees are eventually ground into
mulch, which is made available to citizens, free of charge, while supplies
last.
